Tarkett to Relocate Ontario Flooring Accessories Plant to Ohio

Tarkett (Paris) announced it will shift its flooring accessories manufacturing plant operations from Waterloo, Ontario, to its recently expanded facility in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

The company will also relocate its Truro, Nova Scotia-based carpet manufacturing plant to Dalton, Ga.

Tarkett said the shift to North America will reduce costs and improve logistics, as a majority of its products are sold in the U.S.

The Truro-based carpet plant employs 240 people, and the Waterloo-based flooring accessories plant employs 70, all of whom will be laid off in the transition.

“Tarkett will do what is right for both the employees and customers, in light of this decision,” the company said, adding that employees will receive outplacement support to find new opportunities.

The company said it expects the transition to be completed by the end of this year.
