Construction employment grew by 256,000 year-over-year in April, an increase of 3.5%, according to the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).
Compared with March, construction employment increased by 33,000. Construction unemployment fell to 4.7% compared with 6.5% in April 2018.
Average hourly earnings for construction workers grew 3.1% compared with April 2018 to $30.60, which is 10.2% higher than private sector average of $27.77.
