Brazil redeployed troops into the Amazon rainforest to combat increasing deforestation, AP reported. The dispatch comes two months after pulling troops out of the region and days after the country’s environment minister resigned.
The Forest Stewardship Council U.S. Board of Directors appointed Francois Dufresne to serve as interim president until a permanent president is in place. The appointment follows the resignation of longtime FSC President Corey Brinkema, who departed June 30. Dufresne has served as president of FSC Canada since 2012.
