FCEF Marks First Flooring Installation Class at Georgia Northwestern Technical College

Gntc Pilot Program

The Floor Covering Education Foundation marked the first week of its flooring installation class at Georgia Northwestern Technical College.

The Basic Flooring Installation pilot program is a 10-week course that began Jan. 10 and includes eight students, all of whom were approved for FCEF scholarships that covered the cost of the course.

FCEF is eyeing state accreditation for the course by the fall semester of 2022, which will make participants eligible to receive additional scholarships and financial aid.

In the weeks leading up to the start of the course, the program received material and tool donations from Shaw Industries, William Bird, Congoleum, Dal-Tile, Ardex and RFMS.

“It was truly a team effort, and FCEF is proud to have been there to bring everyone together to reach this common goal,” stated Kaye Whitener, director of operations for FCEF.

FCEF training partners include the International Certified Flooring Installers, Certified Tile Education Foundation and the National Wood Flooring Association.
