Former County Exec Sentenced For Kickback Schemes Including New Hardwood Floors

Former Nassau County, N.Y., Executive Edward Mangano was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for multiple counts of accepting bribes and kickbacks, including a bribe in the form of new hardwood flooring.

Between 2010 and 2015, Mangano received bribes and kickbacks from Long Island restaurant owner Harendra Singh, whom Mangano aided in helping to secure about $20 million in loans, among other favors.

Along with new hardwood flooring, Mangano received a custom office chair, a massage chair, five vacations and a $7,300 watch from Singh.

Mangano was also sentenced for conspiracy to obstruct justice. Mangano’s wife, Linda Mangano, was reportedly given a “no-show job” as a “food taster” at one of Singh’s restaurants, where she was paid more than $450,000. She was sentenced to 15 months in prison for making false statements and obstruction of justice.
