Alabama State Rep Accused Of Stealing Flooring Materials Will Stand Trial

A Jan. 9 trial date has been set for former Alabama state representative Will Dismukes, who is accused of stealing flooring and construction materials from his former employer, according to the Alabama Political Reporter.

Dismukes, R-Prattville, was arrested in 2020 and indicted June 2021 on charges of first-degree theft of property for stealing more than $2,500 in materials from Weiss Commercial Flooring between 2016 and 2018. Dismukes pleaded not guilty. He reportedly worked at Weiss before starting his own business.

Despite the indictment and calls to resign, Dismukes ran for reelection this year but lost in the primary. Dismukes told the Alabama Daily News that he stands by his innocence.
