“Unfavorable weather may have held back construction in many states last month compared to January,” AGC Chief Economist Ken Simonson said in a statement. “But construction employment continued to expand almost everywhere in February compared to a year ago, despite a slump in homebuilding.”Â
Year-over-year, the biggest construction employment gains were recorded in Texas (37,900), New York (20,400) and Florida (19,700). The biggest declines over the year were in West Virginia (2,200), Colorado (1,500) and South Dakota (1,200).
