Bona reduced waste at its facilities by 11% in 2022 compared with 2020, according to its latest Sustainability Report. The reduction exceeded the company’s goal of reducing waste by 4% by 2023.
“The reduction was made possible by waste-reducing activities at several sites,” Bona said in a statement. “With decreased production volumes in a couple of our sites, less waste has been produced.”
The company also reduced its energy consumption by 2% compared with 2020, with a goal of reducing its energy consumption by 4% in 2023.
Bona’s 2022 Sustainability Report also introduced subdivisions for its ongoing approach to sustainability:
Home: Reducing its environmental impact, being carbon neutral by 2040
Health: Business growth through healthy and innovative choices
Humanity: Fair and equal opportunities for its employees and supply chain.
“With our new vision, we take another step on our journey by reinforcing Bona’s business model of encouraging floor renovation and maintenance over replacement, which saves energy consumption and reduces the climate footprint,” added Magnus Andersson, who was appointed CEO of Bona in 2022.
Other sustainability highlights noted in the report include the company’s partnership with WeForest to aid in the restoration of forests in Brazil, Bona’s 2022 EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award and its drive to increase post-consumer recycled plastic in its packaging.
