Value of U.S. Hardwood Flooring Imports Fell 7% in February

The value of U.S. hardwood flooring imports declined 7% in February after two consecutive months of growth, ITTO reported.

Hardwood flooring imports from China dropped 61%, and imports in Brazil and Malaysia fell 41% and 37%, respectively.

Hardwood flooring imports from Indonesia bolstered overall imports over the last few months but fell 19% in February. Compared with February 2022, hardwood flooring imports from Indonesia more than doubled. Total imports of hardwood flooring through the first two months of 2023 were up 12% due to the strength of imports from Indonesia.

Engineered wood flooring imports declined for the fifth consecutive month in February, falling 16%, as imports from China dipped 70% for the month and 69% year-to-date.

U.S. imports of hardwood plywood fell 12% month-over-month and were down 63% compared with February 2022.
