On Dec. 1–4, sports builders from around the country gathered in Houston for the annual American Sports Builders Association Technical Meeting & Trade Show. As many people know by now, many sports flooring contractors from the wood flooring industry organized earlier in 2023 to become the Indoor Sports Surfaces Division of ASBA, and this was the first annual meeting since our group became part of ASBA. By any metric, this meeting was a success! The exhibit hall featured 114 exhibitor booths, and after the exhibit hall sold out of booths, a hallway was pushed into action for additional vendors.
The show featured 1090 attendees from a wide range of sports building professionals. There were 37 flooring companies represented at the show, and those 37 companies brought 85 individual registrants.
Also featured were a total of 39 educational sessions. Sessions ranged from “Project Management in Today’s World” to “Maple 101” ... with lots of good stuff in between!
Of course, the very best part of any gathering of this type, is the camaraderie with fellow contractors and suppliers, and I found that bringing some our crew leaders to this event and having them meet industry professionals from across the country was extremely valuable.
We would like to extend a welcome invitation to sport flooring contractors across the country and across the world to make plans to join us for the 2024 Technical Meeting & Trade Show, which will be held Dec. 2-6, 2024, in Orlando at the Rosen Shingle Creek (keep an eye here for more details as they become available).
