Home Prices’ Upward Trend Begins to Decelerate

Home prices’ upward trend is starting to decelerate as the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller U.S. National Home Price NSA Index reported a 5.9% annual gain for May, down from a 6.4% annual gain for April.

The U.S. National Home Price NSA Index had a 5.8% annual gain for May, down from a 6.4% annual gain in April, showing that while home prices continue to increase, the rate of increase is slowing down.

The 10-City Composite increased 7.7%, down from an 8.1% annual increase the previous month.

“While annual gains have decelerated recently, this may have more to do with 2023 than 2024, as recent performance remains encouraging,” Head of Commodities, Real and Digital Brian D. Luke said in a statement.
