Jim McDonald, machine technician for Lanham Hardwood, died at age 86.

McDonald was an engineer and began working for Lanham Hardwood in 2002. “He was a genuine guy that cared about the industry and wanted to help people be better at their craft,” Jason Henage, Lanham salesman and McDonald’s son-in-law, told WFB.

Henage said McDonald was always kind and would go out of his way to help customers. “He was very helpful to people and he would come in on Saturdays to meet customers,” Henage says. “He tried to help every single person.”

Wayne Lee of Middle Tennessee Lumber says he met McDonald in 2002. I was asked to come to Lanham Hardwoods to teach a new service technician, and to my surprise it was Mr. Jim.

We became friends within seconds, and I enjoyed his desire to learn as much as possible about the sanding equipment," Lee says. "The past 22 years we would chat on the phone and walk through different hurdles he would come across. Mr. Jim was a genuine gentleman. I will miss my dear friend and recall him saying on each call, 'Wayne, I hate to bother you,'—then he would ask his questions."
