U.S. Imposes 20.56% Anti-Dumping Duties on Canadian Softwood Lumber

The U.S. Commerce Department increased its anti-dumping duties on Canadian softwood lumber imports from 7.66% to 20.56% following its annual tariffs review.

The Department of Commerce found that Canada was dumping softwood lumber into the U.S. at rates ranging from 9.65% to 35.53%.

The decision requires Canadian companies to retroactively pay duties on products shipped to the U.S. since Jan. 1, 2023.

The National Association of Home Builders said in a blog post, “Although NAHB is disappointed by this decision to raise lumber tariffs, it is part of the regularly scheduled review process the United States employs to ensure adequate relief to American companies and industries impacted by unfair trade practices.”
