Wellmade Performance Flooring filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is pursuing a going-concern 363 sale following a March labor-trafficking probe.
The company filed for Chapter 11 protection on Aug. 4 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia
Wellmade designs, produces and distributes a wide range of hard surface flooring collections, operating through its manufacturing hub in Cartersville, Ga., and its corporate headquarters and distribution center in Tualatin, Ore.
On March 26, agents from the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation executed search warrants against Wellmade Industries and several homes in Georgia believed to be employee housing.
Federal officials allege the suspects used fraud and coercion to recruit immigrant workers, many from China, and subjected them to harsh working conditions for little pay.
The factory reopened on March 28.
