Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, Illinois, has reopened its Lucco Jackson Gymnasium after a complete renovation due to a rusted sewer line that caused buckling issues, The Telegraph reported.
The buckling issue was first discovered during preseason practices for the Edwardsville girls' volleyball team last summer.
As a result, the team played all of its home matches at Liberty Middle School for the 2024 season.
The gym was given a temporary patch after the buckling was discovered, and the boys' and girls' basketball teams were able to play home games at Edwardsville High School in the winter.
The school later determined the buckling issue was caused by moisture from the rusted sewer line, and the entire floor was torn up around spring break.
Construction crews replaced the gym over the summer, and it’s now open in time for the start of fall sports.
