Climate- and weather‑related disasters are becoming a growing share of all remodeling spending, according to a recent report by Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies.
Spending on repairs tied to hurricanes, wildfires, flooding and other disasters now makes up about 6% of all home‑remodeling expenditures—up from less than 4% two decades ago.
Between 2021 and 2023, homeowners spent roughly $23 billion annually on disaster repairs, nearly triple the inflation‑adjusted figure from 2003.
