The interest rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage was at 6.38% the week ending March 26, a 40-point (bps) increase from the week ending February 26 (5.98%), according to Freddie Mac. The rate for a 15-year fixed mortgage increased 31 bps from February 26 (5.44%) to March 26 (5.75%). “The rebound in mortgage rates was driven primarily by movements in the 10-year Treasury yield, which jumped 11 bps to 4.24% as tensions in the Middle East escalated,” the National Association of Home Builders reported.
