Houzz: Eco-friendly Design Searches Rocketed in Q1

Online searches for eco-friendly design choices are on the rise, according to the 2026 emerging summer trends report from design and construction software provider Houzz (Palo Alto, Calif.). Based on U.S. user data from the first quarters of 2026 and 2025, searches for “repurposed materials” were up 199% year-over-year, while “sustainable” was up 42% and “bamboo flooring” was up 32%.

The report also found searches for warm, earthy colors increasing year-over-year, with “rust colors” up 178% and “chocolate brown” up 153%.

Additionally, searches related to wellness rooms, such as “spa” (up 68%) and “yoga room” (up 20%) increased.
