A new Chicago-area flooring supplies distributor, DOM Flooring Supplies (Elk Grove Village, Ill.), hosted demonstration days at its store, May 20–21. At the event, industry vendors and flooring professionals answered questions and showcased products that wood floor contractors can purchase at DOM, including refinishing supplies, sanding equipment and hardwood flooring. The event marks one of many, as Owner Damien Janaszek says he plans to build a community and bolster education around the wood flooring industry.
“I have had a passion for wood flooring for many years,” Janaszek said. “We opened this company to build something different—not just another distributor, but a place built around relationships, education, support and respect for the craft.”
DOM opened its doors on April 1 and has already hosted multiple events and one-on-one consultations with contractors, as Janaszek’s team of experienced industry professionals can demonstrate how to use any of their available products, he said.
“We want our showroom, warehouse and company to be a place where flooring professionals feel comfortable stopping by, asking questions, sharing ideas and learning from one another,” Janaszek said. “If we can help contractors grow their businesses, improve their craft and build lasting relationships, then we have accomplished our mission.”
DOM partners with Middle Tennessee Lumber, Maxwell Hardwood Flooring, Smith Flooring, North Woods Flooring, Sheoga, Graf Custom Hardwood and Cumberland, and distributes LOBA-Wakol, Bona, ProCoat and Woodwise products.
