WFB Briefs: Registration for 2026 NAFCD + NBMDA Now Open, U.S. Hardwood Imports Plunge, and More

The North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors and the North American Building Material Distribution Association will host the 2026 NAFCD + NBMDA Annual Convention November 3–5 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas. U.S. imports of hardwood and decorative plywood were down by more than 36% in volume and 23% in value for the first four months of this year, according to data from the U.S. International Trade Commission. Imports declined from Indonesia (-70%), Vietnam (-61%) and China (-66%), while they surged from Malaysia (175%) and Cambodia (650%).

As Bjelin (Viken, Sweden) celebrates 10 years in business, it announced that the company will continue focusing on and growing its veneer product lines, including its popular Woodura products, of which production grew 40% in the last year, according to the company. “[Veneer] enables better use of raw material, greater design freedom and stronger margins, while reducing our dependency on fluctuating log quality,” CEO Fredrik Alfredsson said.
