Ian Cheadle, owner and operator of Dayton Hardwood Co. in Dayton, Ohio, will volunteer with global disaster relief nonprofit All Hands & Heart to rebuild an elementary school in Catanduanes Island, Philippines. He has started a fundraising campaign to cover travel expenses and time off work.
As one of the most typhoon-prone countries in the world, the Philippines has been an annual destination for the disaster relief group since 2007. Cheadle will help rebuild a school that was severely damaged last year by Typhoon Pepito.
“The minute I learned about it, I felt like I had been training my whole life to do it,” Cheadle said. The project will directly support more than 128 children and future generations, according to the All Hands & Hearts website.
