GoFundMe Created for Pro Following Stage IV Cancer Diagnosis

After Stephanie Reese of Lake Station, Ind.-based Taylor Hardwood Floors received a stage IV colon cancer diagnosis, fellow wood floor pros set up a GoFundMe to help the family with bills. Within days, pros from around the country donated a combined $5,871, and the effort to raise more money is still ongoing.

“She’s one of the kindest and most loving people you could have ever met,” stated Ethan Abrudeanu of Des Plaines, Ill.-based Broadleaf Hardwoods, who helped set up the GoFundMe. “She personally has always been there for me … I know many other people have had the same experience with her.”

The colon cancer has spread to Reese’s liver, according to Jason Grissom, Reese’s boyfriend and business partner at Taylor Hardwood Floors.

“She was on every job every day. She installs, sands, handles the books and puts up with me,” he stated. “She’s amazing.”

Abrudeanu said he was surprised by the outpouring of donations at first, but not by the number of lives in the industry Reese has touched.

“Those of us who have had the privilege of meeting her can all agree, that she is a force of nature,” the GoFundMe states.
