Trailer on the Loose

Wayne Lee

Today started off like no other: I lost the trailer because I forgot that the ball on the truck was changed to a smaller size over the weekend. I had to lift it off the ground with a small jack, then get the big one to raise it all the way up. Thank God it did not break anything. Let's add some pain to the back half of the day: Then our compressor took a dive off the deep end about 3 p.m. so I was off to the store to get a new one. More than $400 later I set it up in the shop and the brand new unit had a bad air regulator. So in order to get it running right away I took a regulator off an old unit.

We are installing 3-inch cherry at 7 percent on plywood at 26 percent; what in the world is going on? We put a thick coat of poly on the plywood and I also called to get a dehumidifier installed in this crawlspace. I cannot believe the numbers we see in the beams and ply around here! Eathan and I laid out the room, got the backer boards down, then racked out half the room. We got half of that laid and then the compressor trouble started ... so I will kick it in high to make up the lost time. Joey can nail like a sewing machine, so in comparison my high gear is just normal; I will be spent by the end of the day.  He's 29 years old vs. me being 48 years old; I will keep up but he will go play after work while I look for the Bengay just to drive home. Joey is an outstanding floor man; talent and desire will get him far if he keeps it up.
