First quarter 2005 operating income was $7.7 million compared with $40.8 million in the first quarter of 2004. This decrease was primarily driven by a 9 percent volume decline in solid wood floors, but was partially offset by an 18 percent volume increase in engineered hardwood floors and price increases for some products.
