Most demolished wood floors end up in the Dumpster, but one old school gym floor from West Virginia is turning into dollars, according to The Ledger Independent. After the Augusta school gym was renovated, the old wood floor pieces were salvaged and stored for a fund-raiser. The backs of the boards have been authenticated with text done with calligraphy or wood burning. "One woman, whose mother went to Augusta, had me put, 'My Mommy played basketball on this board' and her jersey number," the coordinator of the project told the Ledger. The paper reports that more than 120 sections have already been inscribed and sold for $5 each, and more than 100 are ready to be sold at the upcoming Augusta Heritage Days this weekend.
