Domotex Middle East began Monday in Dubai with a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by Abdul Rahman Al Owais, the minister of culture, youth and community for United Arab Emirates.
Show organizers expect more than 5,000 visitors-including flooring professionals, wholesalers and retailers, architects and interior designers-from 75 countries to attend the show's sixth edition, which will end Wednesday. More than 140 exhibitors from 30 countries are at the show.
"Sustained investment in construction and infrastructure projects means that the Middle East is a key market for the floor covering industry," said Angela Schaschen, managing director of Deutsche Messe Dubai Branch, the show's organizer. "The region is also incredibly diverse in its flooring needs; requirements range from practical, low-cost, simple designs to high-end luxury products that might be used in palaces or five-star hotels, and visitors will find the full spectrum of products here at Domotex Middle East."
