The Home Depot (Atlanta) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) have launched a database at leed.homedepot.com for products geared toward green home building, many of which may contribute to earning credits under the LEED for Homes Rating System.
The only hardwood floor options shown on the site come from Home Legend LLC (Adairsville, Ga.). Home Legend's solid and engineered flooring offerings on the site include hardwood, cork and bamboo products that may garner users 1-2 credits under LEED for Homes. Typically, the products are certified for GreenGuard Indoor Air Quality, or they carry an FSC certification.
Upon clicking on a product, a separate window opens up that takes users to a store on www.homedepot.com. The website features free shipping, free in-store pickup and free returns.
The database features more than 2,500 products. "As the world's largest home improvement retailer, we want to show our customers that building green can be easy and affordable," said Lindsay Chason, senior manager of environmental innovation at The Home Depot.
