In what the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) refers to as an "unprecedented" move, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) will open a fourth public comment period for LEED 2012 on May 1.
In what the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) refers to as an "unprecedented" move, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) will open a fourth public comment period for LEED 2012 on May 1.
LEED 2012 is the next-generation rating system of the popular green building guidelines. The comment period coincides with USGBC's release of its latest draft of LEED 2012. "The draft of LEED 2012 will incorporate final technical revisions based on public comment feedback and will incorporate credit requirements that have been positively impacted by credit documentation development," according to USGBC. As a result of the third public comment period that ended in March, USGBC backed off its requirement for FSC-100% material.
The fourth public comment period will close on May 15. Next, from June 1-30 LEED 2012 will be balloted, and it will launch in November, according to USGBC. To vote on the ballot, USGBC members must opt into the consensus body.
