For many college students, spring break is typically a time for … Well, let's not go there. Some universities, though, administer projects around the Spring Break With a Purpose theme, where students spend their spring break carrying out volunteer service projects for groups in need.
And this year some students were even lucky enough to work with wood flooring during their Spring Break With a Purpose. According to the Westminster Cable Network, a group of students from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., traveled to Raleigh, N.C., to help Habitat For Humanity of Wake County recycle parts of a sport floor salvaged from William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Va. Here's a video overview of the students' work:
The group of students spent their time tearing apart, de-nailing and repackaging the wood flooring for re-sale at ReStore. ReStrore is now selling the bundles in bulk or separately for repairs or whole-room installations.
With all their hard work, there's no doubt the students will better appreciate a fine wood floor the rest of their lives.
