The Washington Post recently published a consumer's guide for wood flooring, and for pointers it turned NWFA Board of Directors member Sprigg Lynn, president at Universal Floors Inc. (Washington, D.C.).
For the guide, Lynn discussed the economic advantages of wood flooring and the evolution of finishes, as well as the stability of engineered flooring. For tips on care, Lynn said consumers would be well-served to clean regularly, leave the high heels at the door and trim pets' nails. As for the the most popular wood options right now, Lynn started with bamboo ($7-$8 per square foot installed), wide oak plank ($9-$10), and hand-scraped wood ($15-$20).
