James R. Collins was contracted to cut timber on the landowner's property in 2009; along with a partner, Aaron VanDusen, about $45,000 in timber was cut, but they paid the landowner only $7,000 for his share. The week of Aug. 14, 2012, Collins surrendered himself to the Ostego County (N.Y) sheriff's department, and he was arrested for third-degree grand larceny. If convicted, Collins could serve up to seven years in prison.
