Robber Tries to Chainsaw Through Wood Floor to Burglarize Roller Rink

Even the most skilled wood flooring contractor might have a challenging time with this wood floor repair: Last week a man in Spokane, Wash., tried to cut his way through the underside of a roller rink floor with a chainsaw to burglarize the business, according to The Spokesman-Review.

According to the Review, a tripped security alarm brought the roller rink's owner, Shaun Pattison, and his dog to the rink, where the dog's barking scared the burglar out from the crawl space under the skating rink. Just then sheriff's deputies arrived, and the suspect, James F. Sica, took off running but was later captured; a sheriff's sergeant noted sawdust and wood chips on Sica's clothing and the fact that his pants appeared to be soaked from kneeling in damp dirt. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary and in response told deputies, "But I didn't get in!", according to the Review.
