N-Hance Revolutionary Wood Renewal (Logan, Utah), which operates kiosks within 1,400 Home Depot locations across the U.S., in November launched a site-cured wood floor finishing service dubbed "Light Speed."
N-Hance has labeled the process a "premium wood refinishing product" that "instantly dries and cures wood surfaces." In marketing the service, N-Hance compares its UV-cured finish with traditional wood finishes "that can take up to two weeks to dry." What's more, N-Hance says Light Speed only costs $1 more per square foot than conventional finish, and that UV-cured finish is the "the most durable finish with the highest wear index and highest scratch resistance."
N-Hance bills itself as "the only wood finishing business with a physical presence in Home Depots across the nation." It operates on the "store within a store" business model, in which a big box store leases a portion of its interior to a business offering complementary products or services. Operating N-Hance's 1,400 kiosks are 200 franchisees. Home Depot employees schedule the service, and the N-Hance franchisee and employees or contractors do the remodeling work.
"It's a reversal of the traditional sales equation," Ben Davis, N-Hance's president, said in a press release. "Our franchisees almost have more leads than they can handle. It's like opening a lemonade stand after thirsty kids are already lined up down the block."
N-Hance is actively seeking franchisees. Establishing one requires a $16,525 down payment and between $35,000 and $118,000 total investment, depending on territory size, including equipment and products. Franchises also offer wood cabinet refinishing.
