Gum, crayons and glue sticks-they all come from trees.
Gum, crayons and glue sticks-they all come from trees.
About 25 elementary school children will learn this and more at the "Truth About Trees" program held during the National Wood Flooring Association's 2014 Wood Flooring Expo, April 16-19 in Nashville, Tenn.
The program, supported through a partnership with NWFA and the Hardwood Forest Foundation, teaches children about the benefits of harvesting trees to make materials used every day.
"This program can provide a thought-changing experience for school children and educators," says Sally Johnson, HFF president. "Many children, and even teachers, have the perception that cutting down trees is bad, and this program demonstrates for them how proper harvesting is actually good for the environment."
The program takes place April 17 at 12:30 p.m. Afterward, the school children will display what they learned to Expo attendees during a performance.
