Almost 50 Hardwood Federation representatives, including NWFA members, attended more than 100 meetings with members of Congress and staff during the Federation’s Fall Fly-In on Sept. 9.
“And oh, what an impact we made,” said Dana Lee Cole, executive director, in a statement.

The meetings covered the proposed designation of the Northern long eared bat as an endangered species, the carbon neutrality of biomass in regards to greenhouse gas regulations and proposed tax reforms that would hit forest land owners and timber proceeds hard.
The Federation also held social events and fundraisers for politicians on both sides of the aisle. Twenty-eight Republicans attended an evening reception and 19 Democrats had breakfast with the Federation the next morning.
Next year's Fly-In is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 8–10. For more information, contact the Federation at (202) 463-2705.
