Barclay Moore, a custom furniture maker out of Tahoe City, Calif., needed a sawhorse.
He surveyed his workshop: The solid wood sawhorses he had were sturdy and reliable, but too heavy and bulky. His plastic sawhorses, light and foldable, had all buckled and broken. Both types of sawhorse were unusable, so Moore decided to make his own.
He had a few requirements. He wanted a sawhorse that would last for years without breaking. It had to fold for easy storage. It had to be able to be left outside in the rain, accept add-on accessories and be as light as possible. After tinkering around, the Morhorse was born.
The Morhouse combined the best parts of the solid wood and plastic sawhorses and fixed the worst. It's made of plywood, so it's strong and light, and it folds flat. There are two versions: the larger Clydesdale and smaller Mustang, which can hold 3,320 pounds and 1,720 pounds of load.
Moore made a number of product videos and took his prototype to Kickstarter, an online crowd-funding website, and asked for users to back his product with $5,200.
He's already exceeded his goal, and has $10,860 with 15 days left of the funding period.
