Staying true to its name, this year's Greenbuild International Conference and Expo will have the world's first "net-zero" exhibit space, said United States Green Building Council in a statement.
The net-zero exhibit is a space on the Expo floor where booths contained therein are fully powered by an on-site microgrid that generates, stores and distributes energy from alternative sources, said Lindsay Roberts, show director.
The microgrid can operate in conjunction with the local utility power grid or independent of it. The 1,500-square-foot space will showcase and power 11 exhibitors.
Greenbuild takes place Oct. 22–24 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
