The inaugural instructional school at Vermont Natural Coatings’ (Hardwick, Vt.) new training center enrolled 16 professional flooring contractors for the three-day event.
The sand, finish and equipment training school was held March 25–27 in cooperation with Norton Abrasives (Watervliet, N.Y.) and Lägler (Guglingen, Germany). The instructors were Bob Goldstein, Vermont Natural Coatings’ sales and technical advisor and a National Wood Flooring Association Certified Inspector, Installer and Sand and Finisher; and Greg Mihaich, a Norton Abrasive application engineer and an NWFACP-certified Installer and Sand and Finisher.
Among the 16 attendees was Hunter Russell, a junior at Green Mountain Technology and Career Center and Craftsbury Academy who received a scholarship from Vermont Natural Coatings to attend the training school.
“Hunter did an amazing job and seemed right at home among the professionals from Vermont and throughout the Northeastern U.S. and Canada that made up the class,” said Andrew Meyer, founder and president of Vermont Natural Coatings, in a statement. “He was exposed the very latest technology used in sanding and finishing floors and made connections that very well could result in a summer apprenticeship program.”
