Standing in front of rubble and twisted steel, the owners of Philadelphia Floor Store recorded a video update to vendors and customers about the fire that destroyed the company’s main headquarters in Conshohocken, Pa., early in the morning on May 17.
All told, the company’s entire inventory of products, encompassing more than 10,000 SKUs, was destroyed. All operating equipment—trucks, machine repair instruments, computers, forklifts and Internet servers—was burned and rendered useless.
“It’s our entire life’s work burned up. Twenty-two years,” Maurice Glavin said in the video.
Key members of the Philadelphia Floor Store team are now working in a temporary “command center” in Boothwyn, Pa., about 24 miles south of Conshohocken.
Meanwhile, a search for a new site is underway, as is an investigation into the cause of the fire.
"We are extremely fortunate that no one from our team, nor anyone from neighboring residences and businesses, was injured," said Mike Glavin, Philadelphia Floor Store owner and founder, in a statement. "We have an excellent team, a supportive network, and enormous faith in our ability to rebound from this tragedy to become bigger, better, and stronger than ever."
