Four truckloads of wood flooring purchased through The Flooring Marketplace (TFMP), an online dealer program created by TW Flooring Group (Pennsauken, N.J.), were allegedly purchased with stolen credit cards and moved into Canada, according to a statement from TFMP.
Every piece of flooring has a unique grade stamp on its face and a code on its bottom, both of which would be noticeable to anyone working on a prefinished factory line or installing floors. Information regarding the whereabouts of the product should be directed to TFMP at (404) 596-4600 or [email protected].
The statement lays out a timeline of events:
The flooring, ¾-inch-thick by 5-inch-wide unfinished select red oak with beveled edges and ends, originated at a TFMP mill in upstate New York. Cavalier Transportation, contracted by the buyer, picked up the goods and transported them to Canada. Academy Customs & Traffic, a customs broker in Mississauga, Ontario, then imported the product into the country.
The buyer had instructed Cavalier to deliver the flooring to JAS Flooring in Milton, Ontario, but once the goods were inside Canada, the buyer called the transportation company and said to leave the product at Cavalier’s terminal in Bolton, Ontario.
Someone driving a Ryder truck picked up the material in batches, starting on June 4. He was caught on camera walking through the Cavalier warehouse.
All 66,120 square feet of the shipment, 76 pallets in all, is still missing and the balance left to be paid.
