July home prices increased 1.7 percent since June and 6.9 percent since July 2014, according to the CoreLogic Home Price Index report.
This is the 41st consecutive month of year-over-year home price increases.
“Home sales continued their brisk rebound in July and home prices reflected that, up 6.9 percent from a year ago,” said Frank Nothaft, chief economist at CoreLogic, in the report.
Home prices in July were still 6.6 percent below the April 2006 peak.
Two states, Massachusetts and Mississippi, saw home prices decrease, by 2.1 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively.
Fifteen states reached new highs in the HPI, including Alaska, Arkansas and Colorado.
CoreLogic predictions for the future include a 0.5 percent increase in home prices month-over-month in August and a 4.7 percent increase by July 2016.
