The data researchers from Yale used to conclude the world has around 3 trillion trees also tell us which countries have the most trees. In first place, with 642 billion trees, is Russia, according to the Washington Post.
Not surprisingly, the amount of trees in a country typically correlates with the size of that country, the study shows.
In second place is Canada with 318 billion trees, followed by Brazil with 302 billion and the United States with 228 billion. China came in fifth with 140 billion and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, home of the second largest tropic rain forest, has 101 billion trees.
But what about tree density? While desert countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar have one tree per square kilometer each, northern countries Finland and Sweden, had some of the highest densities with 72,644 and 69,161 trees per square kilometer, respectively. Slovenia also was near the top of the list for density, with 71,131 trees per square kilometer.
