Construction spending in August was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.08 trillion ($1.086.2 billion), 0.7 percent above the July rate of $1.07 trillion ($1.079.1 billion), according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The August figure represents a 13.7 percent increase from the August 2014 rate of $955 billion.
Private construction in August was recorded at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $788 billion, 0.7 percent higher than the July rate of $782.3 billion.
Of that, $383.3 billion was for residential construction spending, which is 1.3 percent higher than the rate in July. Nonresidential construction spending was at a rate of $404.7 billion, a 0.2 percent increase from July’s $403.8 billion.
