A stockpile of more than 30 tons of teak was seized from a concrete mixing facility in Myanmar because authorities believe it is illegal, according to The Irrawaddy.
The Forestry Department opened a smuggling case, and authorities have begun an investigation into the ownership of the mixing facility where the unmarked timber was found.
Myanmar, which has long struggled with illegal logging, banned the export of timber logs in 2014, and logging has been restricted in the country since 2016 in an attempt to curb deforestation.
