The two athletes toured the storied facility late last year and learned about its history, according to the YMCA that houses the court.

While still a local attraction, the circa-1893 herringbone court has seen better days and is suffering from moisture-related damage. The YMCA has been campaigning to raise money to have the Hungarian oak flooring restored to its former glory. Nike even got in on fundraising last year with custom herringbone-style sneakers to benefit the floor.

On Jan. 12, the historic building was also damaged by a nearby gas leak explosion, according to the YMCA.

“More than ever we need help with the restoration of the building,” the YMCA stated. The YMCA set up a GoFundMe that can be found here.
