A senior prank resulted in thousands of dollars of damage to a North Carolina high school’s 100-year-old hardwood floors, according to a report by CBS 17.
Administrators arrived at Roanoke Rapids High School May 21 to find vegetable oil had been poured on hardwood flooring throughout the school, which also had its door locks glued, windows spray painted and yard covered in toilet paper. The school was forced to shut down for a day due to the vandalism.
“This was a ‘senior prank’ that went too far,” the school stated.
The vandalism was caught on security cameras, and five people have been arrested in relation to the incident, according to CBS.
The school estimated the total damage from the prank to be about $8,400 and said that sections of the historic hardwood flooring may need to be replaced due to the large amounts of vegetable oil.
