5 3 Kop Coat NpKop-Coat Protection Products (Pittsburgh) announced it has developed a “dimensional stabilizer” designed to reduce wood’s ability to gain and lose moisture.

The manufacturing product, WoodYouth Plus, is designed for wood veneer and solid wood components and penetrates into the wood’s cellular structure, where it adheres to its cellulose.

“The product mitigates the effects of moisture, which reduces dimensional changes that cause swelling, warping, checking, and splitting,” the company said in a statement. “WoodYouth Plus-treated wood can be laminated with all industrial adhesive technologies and accept all industrial stain and finish systems.”

Kop-Coat teamed up with Beakler Consulting Services LLC to develop the product, with a goal of assisting customers looking for increasingly popular water-resistant properties in products. The product is not a topical coating, but rather a liquid that penetrates into the wood.

“The new product will assist a multitude of wood product manufacturers looking for these properties from wood flooring to decorative panels and plywood,” the company added.

For custom designed veneer treatment equipment, the company can be contacted here.
