A coatings and finishing publication set out to locate the best cities for construction workers based on opportunity, demand, pay and cost of living. Industrial Paint and Protection (IPP) magazine used U.S. Census data and building permits to develop and rank the 49 metro areas on its list.
The top 10 cities include:
Dallas
Houston, Texas
Minneapolis
Austin, Texas
Phoenix
Seattle
Philadelphia
Tampa, Fla.
Jacksonville, Fla.
Nashville, Tenn.
“Six out of 10 of the top cities for construction workers are in the South due to a boom in building permits and a relatively low cost of living,” IPP stated. “Demand for construction workers in these cities is incredibly high, and there’s a notable shortage of laborers in the top cities.”
