The future of drawing construction floor layouts could soon be left in the hands—or, rather, wheels—of robots.
SitePrint, an autonomous robot designed by HP in partnership with Leica Geosystems, was designed to print construction layouts directly onto the floor, Thomas Insights, a publication that covers industry updates, reported.
The robot draws plans uploaded to a cloud-based software and is capable of avoiding objects while drawing them out on a construction site. The machine can handle intricate arcs and circumferences, the company stated.
SitePrint features multiple ink options suitable for surfaces such as plywood, concrete, tarmac, pavement and more. It was pilot-tested in 80 projects, including residential construction, according to Thomas, and will be available for purchase later this year.
