Lowe’s Foundation announced a five-year, $50 million commitment to help prepare 50,000 people for careers in the skilled trades and address “critical” worker shortages in the construction field.
The foundation’s Gable Grants program will provide two-year grants to applicants with a goal of helping to build a sustainable infrastructure of training programs.
“From 2023–2028, community and technical colleges and community-based nonprofit organizations across the country can apply for grants to recruit, train and employ the future skilled trades workforce with an emphasis on under-represented communities,” Lowe’s said in a press release. “We’ll bring our network, expertise and resources to address this critical need and ensure that the next generation of builders has the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the demands of our modern world.”
